Apricale – The Book

Apricale omslag web 2.jpg

Apricale – in Latin Apricus, means open to the sun.

This is a photographic story about one of Italy’s most beautiful stone villages. And about living together.

The book is divided into three chapters:
The first is the author’s personal story, My first time.
The second, Apricale Images, is a photographic panorama of Apricale with portraits of villagers and landscapes.
The third chapter, Apricale’s foreigners, presents some of the early pioneers and 28 of the 30+ nationalities living in the village today, with portraits and their own stories.

Author & photographer Lena Möhler came to Apricale 1986. Her italian teacher, a real Apricalese living in Germany, inspired her to spend a holiday there. Since then Apricale has become an important part of her life. Lena, Swedish by birth, lives in Bremen and Apricale.

Designer Gary Newman and his wife Karin first visited Apricale in 1985 and fell in love with the people and their village. Twenty years later they returned to buy the house they rented in 1985, still in love. Gary, Canadian by birth, works in both Stockholm and Apricale. He is also the sole importer in Sweden of Apricale Olio di Oliva.
